Dear Rich,
I think you may be making an unfair assumption with your comments on Mr & Mrs varieties of bird in the view from your window.
The pheasants may be simply living in sin as Mr Pheasant is reluctant to commit at this present moment in the relationship and the magpie's could well be a gay couple called Berna'ad & Leslie for all you know. Berna'ad being the more dominant one of the two.
